  • I can remember as a child the feeling of those windy days. Our house was near a row of large, tall trees. They were across the creek from us, I think they were Eucalyptus trees, and when the wind
blew they really felt it. But there was something about the wind that made us want to stand in it, to feel it. The thing was though, we had no power over it, nor were we even a slightest threat to it. The wind was going to blow and if you were in the way, you were going to feel it.
Ururangi reminds me of those days at home with my family. Mum and Dad gave us a warm, safe home where we would be warm on those windy days. Of course, things change, the house has gone to another family, the trees have been removed for progress, and we have all gotten our own families. But, the wind is still blowing as it always has, still
doing what it has always done, not just at the old homestead.
It feels good to stand in the wind on those windy days, to remember those memories, and to be encouraged that with everything else changing so rapidly, there are things that don't change, like the wind in the trees, the wind on my face and my memories of more innocent days
