Pūwerewere

Pūwerewere, or in some places Pūngāwerewere, is a pattern that is inspired by a spider and its web. The intricacy and skill of the spider to create, the beauty and the function of the web, these all come to mind when this pattern is used. One way of interpreting this is by using it to speak about the skillfulness of a person, their resourcefulness and their ability to capture important knowledge for future use. I am sure we have all done this ourselves and no doubt know someone who is like this. This pattern speaks of these things among others
